Dear [[FIRST_NAME]],

Welcome to Spring in Carrum! The season opening day is this weekend!

A message from the new President, 'Commodore Drew'

"We've got to have fun, it has to be enjoyable. If it's not, we've got to make it fun because we all want to go to our happy place."

So being involved with Carrum is now a great opportunity to build our own club.

What do members want? I invite you all to share your thoughts about what we can do with the Carrum Sailing and Motor Boat Club! Send me an email here: drewhenryemail@gmail.com.

Given that we have relatively few members, it's a great chance to get to know each other and build not only a boating club but a social base as well.

I'd like to thank our Committee, Simon, Nathan Tess Brendan, Lloyd and Steve for keeping things moving forward over winter.

See you at the water for Opening day - this Sunday!

Opening day + come and try - SUNDAY 4th Oct

Spring is here. Daylight savings is almost here. And we are getting back on the water!

Please join us for the opening of our on-the-water season, this coming Sunday 4th October.

This year we are putting our focus into a come and try sailing day plus a BBQ on the beach (fingers crossed for the weather).

Join us on the water or just drop by for a snag in bread and a chat. And if you know someone who'd like to have a try at sailing, point them our way!

Latest info and updates will be on the club website: https://www.csmbc.org.au/events/370633

Come and try spots are limited so make sure to prebook with Simon at: membership@csmbc.org.au

Welcome Lucy, Andrew and Heather

A warm Carrum welcome to our newest club members, Lucy, Andrew and Heather!

Lucy is a kayaker, Andrew a SUPer and Heather our latest social member.

Make sure to say hello and introduce yourself when you spot them around the club!

A great turnout for the pre-season working bee

A very busy working bee in the boat yard last weekend, with a great turnout of volunteers. As you can see from our "TODO" whiteboard, we got heaps done: motorboat testing, container organising, space marking, and more!

Thanks to our superstar volunteers on the day: Tess, Drew, Andrew, Nathan, Kevin, Steve, Simon

The Galley at CSMBC: reno updates

The galley kitchen renovations are still underway and taking a little longer than expected. (And ... costing more than planned.)

While this is sometimes an inconvenience - the end is in sight! And afterwards we will all be able to enjoy a more functional working relationship with our tenant!

Follow the Galley on facebook to get the latest updates on how things are tracking.

Club Windsurfer users: an update
  Windsurfer text

A small change in policy on vent screws:

  • Please keep the vent screws closed. We think the risk of accidentally leaving it open is greater than the risk of anything else
  • But if you do open a vent screw, open it obviously! Unscrew it nearly all the way so that it is obviously sticking out and people will know that it's open

After using gear:

  • Please put things back as you found them.
  • Right now the two boards each have mast, two sails, boom, paddle, leg rope. This is marked and packed neatly on top of the boards on the rack. Put it back there after!
  • The fittings (mast base and extension) are in the marked locker.
  • Sand is more the enemy than salt. Try to keep things sand free, especially at joins (especially where the mast joins!)
  • Report any issues to Simon or Tess

We are now sharing the board/paddle container:

  • We have member gear stored in the container now
  • Please be especially respectul of other people's gear
  • Keep the container tidy!

Any questions or to be onboarded to the gear (excuse the pun), ask Simon: membership@csmbc.org.au

Did you know we have a WhatsApp group? Just a place to let people know when you’re getting on the water, ask questions, share bargains that you find on fb marketplace… This is the best place to know who's getting out on the water or when and what club gear is free.

If you want to be added, ask one of the regulars on a race day or send Simon an email with your phone number: membership@csmbc.org.au
