Dear [[FIRST_NAME]],

Off and racing for 2025-26 (finally!)

Club racing

With the weather thwarting our first two weeks of club racing, we finally got out on the water for week three.

The fleet was made up of Laing (Laser Radial), Lloyd (Pacer), and Ron debuting in the club pacer, Penny Lane. Simon on the Windsurfer LT missed the start, proving that his secretarial prowess does not extend to punctuality. Thanks to Kevin and Steve on the safety boat.

Racing at Carrum is very fun and casual. We sail every Sunday at 1PM - come join us!

Longbeach regatta 2026

After a stop at Carrum for 2025, the next Longbeach Regatta is scheduled for 21st March 2026 at Frankston Yacht Club. Make sure to put it on your calendars.

Welcome Ron!

Welcome to our newest sailing member, Ron Yeo. Ron proved himself a handy skipper on the weekend, taking club Pacer Penny Lane to handicap honours in the first club race of the season!

Come and try / Learn to sail updates

We’ve had a very enthusiastic response to our recent come and try sailing days, though again the weather hasn’t been kind to us in recent weeks.

Welcome to Tess, Nathan, Joelle and Karin who have recently signed up on SailPass - we hope you’ll stick around for more!

Given the response, we are looking to run a learn to sail course. We are just locking down our accredited instructors and dates, so expect to hear more about this very soon.

In the meantime, if you or anyone you know might be interested in learn to sail this Spring, please let Simon know so he can add you to the interest list: membership@csmbc.org.au

Boat yard updates

As we flagged in a previous newsletter, we are looking to improve the boat yard so that we can better use our space and offer more to members. This will be ongoing over the season.

Here’s an update on progress:

Side fence - There has been a section of fence missing for a long time now. We have cleared a lot of the vegetation - thanks to our ad hoc working bee crew and our helpful neighbour Damian for the hard work. We are finalising quotes for a new retaining wall and fence.

Boat rack - thanks to Drew (and to Mordi SC for the designs) we’ve got a boat rack started. We just need some ramps.

Containers - Our plan for the south-most container is that most of the area will be for SUP and Windsurfer LT storage - racks are on the way. Once the north-most container is cleared out, that will be for dinghy equipment.

Lockers - we have some small lockers available for member use. Long term use will be available for those storing gear (contact Simon membership@csmbc.org.au if you’d like one). We will also keep some available for short term for day use, so members can store clothes and car keys in a safe place.
